There are lots of different types of engineering (chemical, electrical, mechanical, biomedical, materials…). I’d encourage you to do some research to see what you’re interested in. You can also study general engineering at university which is a good option if you don’t want to specialise yet!
After several decades of being an engineer and in many different types of work I can say the one thing you need to be capable of is asking questions. I mean do not be shy about asking something about anything that you find interesting. Do not be afraid to test things, to try to see how things work. As Calum said in his answer, there are so many types of engineering, and this cover just about everything in life. So if you keep asking questions, and you find that you like the answers to those questions in one area, or subject more than others, then you could first follow that subject.
