As science covers a super wide range of specialist areas and levels, it’s really difficult to answer this question! The salary will also depend on location too.
That’s a very hard question to answer but in my experience in research, after a PhD you tend to see jobs at £30k-£35k in the North of England but it varies quite a lot!
The skills required in Cyber Security are very sought after and so salaries can often reflect this. For example, we are currently looking for a Senior Architect and are interviewing candidates for a salary of between £95,000 and £110,000. We have also just had one of our Junior Architects leave us for another company for a salary of £53,000 with only 5 years experience, so it is very competitive.
For Chemists, the Royal Society of Chemistry surveys its members every year or two to find out. The last survey was in 2023. Then the median salary for a graduate in a chemistry role 6 months after graduating was just over £25,000. This rose to just over £37,000 for early career chemists and on to £52,500 as a median value for the pay of all chemists who responded. There is a wide spread in those numbers though. Average pay tends to increase with experience, with qualifications and with things like chartered status. Pay between industries can vary a great deal.
