• Question: Why do polar bears have white fur?

      Polar bear fur is actually transparent, not white! It looks white because it reflects the light around it – when you see polar bears in areas that aren’t white, they actually look more yellow 🙂 But having their fur appear white is really good camouflage in the Arctic snow and ice where they live in the wild, so the animals they want to eat can’t see them sneaking up on them!
