• Question: Why do you study science

      On one level curiosity; the comfort of understanding; the delight of discovery; wonder and awe at the beauty and majesty of nature; because I enjoy how it helps me look at the world; and because it contributes towards what, to me, makes up happiness.

      On the other hand it’s warm, dry, indoors, relatively well paid, has good chance of keeping me occupied until retirement. And after many years of practice I’m passable at it. It allows me to do at least some of the other things I want to do in life without causing too much trouble or concern.

    I worked as a clinician, so someone working in a clinic with patients, and they had questions I couldn’t answer or I didn’t know how to help them get better. One day that felt like too much and I had to try and do something about it, so I decided to be the person who looks for answers.
