• Question: what would happen if a neutron star had a supernova just as it entered a supermassive black hole

      The black hole would just get bigger. A neutron star going supernova is miniscule compared to a black hole. Interesting though experiment though.

      The accretion disc, the spinning brightly coloured area of dust and bits around the black hole would look really pretty as there would be lots of stuff to glow as it spins towards the black-hole.

      All the matter in the star would simply fall into the black hole… that’s what they do!
