  The Royal Society did some work that showed that even if no more greenhouse gases were emitted today, it would take thousands of years for the earth temperatures to go back to how they were before the industrial revolution. https://royalsociety.org/news-resources/projects/climate-change-evidence-causes/question-20/ Even if we can’t reverse it completely, it’s important for us to make more environmentally friendly decisions to stop the earth getting worse!

  I think it could return to a new normal but the global pressures of population growth and increased energy demands mean that we have to do everything possible now to reduce the impact from years ago, but then double-down and build eco friendly solutions going forwards.

Net zero does not simply mean damage reverses. If we stopped producing a carbon footprint, we would still need to find a way to reverse the damage we have already caused!
