About Me:
I live in Nottingham with my husband and two young children. Half my time I spend conducting research, reading and writing, and the other half going to children’s groups, clubs and activities 🙂
In my spare time (nil!) I enjoy swimming, reading and catching-up with friends. I’m a little rusty, but I can still beat my husband at golf!

My Work:
Work-wise, I am a postdoctoral research fellow, investigating why some people find mathematics difficult. I come from a Cognitive Psychology background, where I look at whether factors such as working memory, inhibition and switching are involved in learning mathematics.

What I'd do with the prize money:
Build a website for teachers and parents to input their ideas about mathematics education research. A lot of research in mathematics education is bottom-up (i.e. driven by researchers ideas and interests). It would be nice if some of the research we conducted came from top-down (i.e. teacher driven) – what would teachers and parents like to investigate with regard to mathematics learning. For example, is it better to teach/learn addition in one way or another, under what conditions is it better to be tested, how do we measure knowledge of a topic fairly and accurately?
