About Me:
I was born and raised in Cairo, Egypt. I moved to London 5 years ago, and I love living here (especially when the sun is out)! I enjoy reading, yoga, and most of all being in the lab 🙂

I grew up in Egypt, then I moved to the UK to start my university studies. I first studied biomedicine in my undergraduate degree where I fell in love with research. Since then I have completed my Master’s degree in Clinical Neuroscience and I am now working in a lab at UCL studying mitochondrial disorders.

My Work:
I work at a lab in UCL in the department of neuromuscular diseases. I study mitochondrial disorders that are caused by genetic mutations.

My Typical Day:
I wake up and have my morning coffee. I get to work at 10am, and my day is filled with different experiments in the lab. I get lunch in the afternoon in between experiments. My days are always different and exciting! Depending on how much work I have, I usually go home between 4 and 6pm.

What I'd do with the prize money:
I would spend the money on raising awareness on mitochondrial diseases. Since they are so rare, not many people know about them, so it would be nice to spread the word!
