Never; it’s varied and interesting and challenging (in the best way).

I’m on ~£50k as a R&D Physicist/ Project Manager, five years after finishing my Doctorate in Physics (and having stayed at the same company that whole time)

No way! I love what I do – being able to research something I am super interested in every day is amazing and never gets boring because I ultimately choose what I do each day. It took me a few years to get an offer, but I knew this was what I wanted to do for a long time.

I do get paid to be a PhD student through science funding, although it is less than I would like as there can be some very stressful days and lots of out-of-hours work. However, having just done many years at university and paying to be there, it is a nice change! I’m learning the skills to get a higher-paying job in the future, so just have to trust the process in terms of my salary.
