• Question: did you get a good education

      I think yes – I went to a normal school in Scotland, and I definitely thought some of my teachers were good and some were bad, but I learnt a lot and I think what matters most is ‘learning to learn’ rather than the content – I learnt to be curious and ask questions and that’s what I’ve done ever since.
      Then I went to University, and did a good variety of things. That was the end of my formal education, but I’ve continued to learn through all my work since

    Yes. I was privileged enough to go to an all girls private primary school, then went to an all girls state grammar secondary school. I then went to one of the top universities in the world for veterinary medicine and one of the top universities in the world overall for my undergraduate and PhD. Neither of my parents went to university, and my mum was expelled from school aged 15, so I am not from an academic background. I was afforded a significant advantage by attending such wonderful schools.
