The sunlight from the sun is scattered by water molecules as it passes through the earths atmosphere, because blue light has the shortest wavelength it is scattered more than other colours.
At sunrise and sunset, the sky appears more red and orange as the light has to travel further in the atmosphere and is more likely to be affected by more particles so the blue is dispersed away leaving the other colours to appear.
