In Florida they have a lot of hot springs, and during summer you can hire a tube and sit in it and float down the river between springs. It was so relaxing, and nice and cool! I worked at a lab in Florida for a while and some friends took me there a few times.
Ireland, Scotland and Austria are probably tied in my first place spot as best countries to go to. But my favourite holiday and the one I always tell people about is when I went to Austria in December a few years ago. We stayed in Vienna for a few nights and then went on a train to spend a few days snow shoeing around Salzburg. The Natural History Museum in Vienna was amazing, the architecture and displays were beautiful – would recommend everyone to go there.
Impossible to choose. There are places that will live forever in my memory and cheer me in old age. Walmer Castle in the springtime with the apple trees in blossom; Yester on a still autumn evening with the mist filling the valley; Dryburgh at Easter, the lambs in the fields; Ardclach in September, the heather in bloom; the bluebell woods of Kilmartin; San Juan de los Reyas; Hospital Traveras; the courtyard gardens of Cordoba in summer bloom; Apolonia, Butrint and Bylis; the Bucovinian monasteries; Venice in May; Gergeti Trinity and Kazbek; Sighnaghi; Lori; Artashat and Ararat; Hattusas; the mosques and mausoleums of Bursa; the olive groves above Sami; the beech forests above Tirana; the meadows of Rigi, Český ráj; Cafe Mayer at supper in summer……too many
Japan and Hawaii! Japan was so different to anywhere I had ever been before, and it felt like Hawaii had every type of habitat – sandy beaches, lava plains, erupting volcanoes, rainforests, grassy hills, snowy mountains and more!
New Zealand is definitely the best place I have visited – it has a huge range of scenery (mountains, forests, beautiful beaches, lovely cities), a nice climate (ranging from cold in the mountains to summer warmth in the north island) and friendly people. I spent some time there working with vets and it was a great place to work too.
New Zealand for me. They are so laid back and friendly and the countryside is insanely beautiful. There are mountains, hot springs, hills and fields and some great lakes. I didn’t go as a result of my work unfortunately. Coolest place I’ve been to for work was Tromso in Norway and that was in the jumpseat of the plane. It was in the cockpit, just being the pilots and it was soo cool!
