I like reading historical fiction, because I like the insight it gives me into peoples lives from the past. My favourite book is Captain Corelli’s Mandolin.
I read a lot of non-fiction – history, aviation and science – but I also like science fiction from 1920-1970, HG Wells, Ray Bradbury, Robert Heinlein, Arthur C Clarke etc…
I mostly read historical fiction, with a bit of Sci-fi and fantasy and bit of classical literature. My favourite book is Thackeray’s Vanity Fair, Becky Sharp is fantastic character, perhaps followed by Hrolf Kraki, but my favourite author remains Terry Pratchett. Perhaps there’s a link there both Thackeray and Pratchett seem to have a clear view of society and a sense of humour regarding it, if presented in different ways.
