This is quite a tricky question to answer. Some fossils are only known from a single specimen!
I have some very common fossils and some much rarer things. One of my favourites is a Precambrian fossil from Canada called Aspidella. They can actually be quite common in some places, but I’d never found one, until I did! I also have a strange Jurassic fossil that looks like a bulb of garlic, and doesn’t have a proper name. We think it is a new kind of fossil burrow, made by an animal digging into a Jurassic sea floor, but until we describe it properly it won’t officially exist!
