  This is a great question! I’m not sure I’ve got the right training to give you an accurate answer, because I can only talk about the diseases which I’ve encountered as a vet, and I’ve only worked in certain countries and with certain species. A disease which was made so rare that it eventually disappeared was Rinderpest, which affected livestock (Cattle). It eventually was declared eradicated in 2011, after over 100 years of work across many countries to get rid of it.
