• Question: what was yout biggest fear about being a scientist

      My biggest fear is not being smart enough to do my job properly and someone getting hurt because of my designs. We do alot of risk assessments and reviews to prevent that sort of thing or make it ‘As Low As Reasonably Practicable’ – but it’s always in the back of my mind.

    That I wouldn’t be clever enough and that I would suggest an idea that was really silly but I hadn’t realised it. We are all human and sometimes, ‘silly’ ideas have led to something interesting. Having that courage to explore and try is really valuable, even if it doesn’t always work.
