I use various equipment in the lab as a Microbiologist to study microbes and count them in water sample: microscope, steamer, incubator, water bath, qPCR machine, autoclave, bio-safety cabinet, centrifuge.
We also have to wear protective clothing eg lab coat, safety googles and hand gloves
I use a lot of the same as Mimi, but I also work with computational biology so use a lot of equipment which is not in the lab. For example there are programmes I use which can compare the sequences of bases in a gene with many others to find out if they might have a similar function. Another I use often is able to use information about how other proteins fold when they have specific components in their sequence to predict how a new protein folds.
