I use a lot of the same as Mimi, but I also work with computational biology so use a lot of equipment which is not in the lab. For example there are programmes I use which can compare the sequences of bases in a gene with many others to find out if they might have a similar function. Another I use often is able to use information about how other proteins fold when they have specific components in their sequence to predict how a new protein folds.

I am a process technician for a medical diagnostics business. The test kits that my work makes and sells, are designed to be used on big floor standing analysers typically also used in hospitals. But before it gets as far as that we are using things like different sizes of balances, different sizes and styles of mixing equipment, pumps for filtering the product, pipettes and syringes for removing samples. We use things like spectrophotometers to check the concentration of material before it can be used and have equipment for purifying or concentrating material before it is used in our products.
