      Benefits are that you create less toxic waste which has to be dealt with, precious metals are lower in abundance so there is more damage through mining and extraction processes than we would hope with using more abundant and less toxic metals.
      Risks are that it leads to different extraction issues, or in different areas, not really negating the original problem.
