Absolutely – Psychology is a scientific discipline. It is the scientific study of the mind and behaviour – Psychology applies scientific methodology to understand why people act the way that they do. We can then use that knowledge and understanding to address real-world issues.
As a vet I didn’t get much training in psychology as part of my vet school degree but recently I’ve been studying psychology to better understand human behaviour . Animals can’t make their own choices, it’s owners who make decisions and choices around managing animals, treating their illnesses etc and I need to better understand how owners make decisions so that I can support them to make the best choices to help their animals.
