There are parts of Biomedical science and pathology that are automated and use AI.

Pathologists can look at 100’s of microscope slides of lymph nodes, screening them to see if there are any cancer cells. There is lots of research going on to see if pathologists can use AI to look at these slides as you can imagine eyes get tired and pathologists need breaks from looking at lymph nodes so they don’t miss anything. We always hear negative things about AI, but I think this is one way we can all see the positives of it.

Saying that though, I worked in histology where we looked at human tissue under the microscope, and I can’t see how AI can completely replace human. That’s not to say it couldn’t happen in the future but I don’t think it’s happening in the near future.
