      I don’t think that there were any blatant setbacks. Be sure of what you want to do and take steps to increase your exposure to that field, such as shadowing, gaining work experience, or completing additional online courses. There are always individuals who will ask if you are sure, but don’t be swayed from your dream.

      No I can’t say I’ve had any setback during my academic pursuits from being a black person. I was very shy and therefore tried various things to help eg volunteering, supervising other students, attending seminars etc. Focus on your goals and aspirations and never be afraid to ask for help- if need be.
