For my specialty (engineering), the NHS can be quite slow moving compared to big engineering companies. This can sometimes be frustrating, however I am under a lot less pressure than people in big engineering companies and, I think, I get to work with more interesting people. The other thing would be that because we are spending money that we get from people through taxes, so sometimes we don’t have much money to use and also the money we do have is hard to spend, as we have to prove what we’re buying is worth it.

I work in a very big NHS trust/board, which sometimes means the communication between departments or our computer systems isn’t always great because each department is so big and has so much to do. However, I often find that people are very willing to help out (once you get ahold of them) as everyone wants to make sure patients’ get the best care possible.
