I teach on both undergraduate and postgraduate level modules in polymer chemistry and physics and colloid science. In our research team, Bonlab, environmental sustainability sits at the heart of a chemical engineering approach to innovate in polymer and colloid science.

My Typical Day:
Wake up around 6:00, walk the dog for 45 min-1 hour, have breakfast (yoghurt, a nice sandwich) and then get to university campus, arriving around 830. Upon arrival load up on decaf coffee and check up on the BonLab team what the latest scientific discoveries are. Throughout the day, have meetings with industry about our science, do teaching, read and learn more science. Later in the afternoon 1600-1800 have discussions and planning with the team. Home around 1800-1900.

What I'd do with the prize money:
I would spend the Β£500 on transport arrangements for schools to visit one of our science activities on campus or a trip to one of our industrial partners.
