I live in a village in South Wales, not far from Cardiff, with my husband and two boys (and a couple of leopard geckos 🦎🦎).
🎼 Music is a big part of my life. I play the piano and sing, and I love discovering new music to listen to. I have a kiln which I use to make jewellery from glass and metal clay. To keep fit, I go running and swimming (sometimes the kids join me). I love taking photographs of things which make me think of fairies. I used to like reading to explore my imagination, but now I paint or write.
I am the kind of person who always has a few wonderful friends. Other people might think I am quiet and boring, but they don’t know me!

Audiology is all about hearing and balance.
I test people’s hearing and help them to use the hearing they have – no matter how good or bad it is. I sometimes give them hearing aids or ask the Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) doctors to treat them.
Our young patients often like getting their hearing aids in their favourite colours
Doing a hearing test: press the button when you hear the beep
I check whether the ‘balance’ part of peoples’ ears are working. This often makes them feel dizzy, and every now and again it makes them sick (🤢 oops!).
These goggles let us record peoples’ eyes on a computer. If their eyes move in a certain way, then we know they are dizzy.
I sometimes do tests to try and find out whether people are telling the truth about not being able to hear. Other days, I might write letters or help to organise things in my hospital department. I sometimes write magazine articles or information about Audiology for other people to read online.
The middle ear bones are the smallest bones in your body
This is how we make a piece to fit in someone’s ear. We could make them an earphone, earplug or hearing aid.

My Typical Day:
I don’t have one! Each day is different and I have lots of hobbies.

I work part time, so sometimes I am at work all day and other days just for the morning. Every week at work is different – it depends what needs to be done. When I am at work, I try and get as much done as I can, so the days seem to go quickly.
I enjoy the days when I pick my boys up from school and take them to music lessons or sports clubs. We always have dinner together as a family. The biggest challenge of every day is getting our boys to bed! 🛏
