Since graduating in 2023, I have worked in the pharmaceutical industry and now work for Cancer Research UK.
At Cancer Research, I work in digital marketing. This means I support all the teams within Cancer Research with developing work that gets shared inside and outside the charity. For example, this can be medical health posters ๐ฉโ๐ฌ, fundraising assets ๐ , partnerships reports ๐, and a lot more!
My work relies on me having strong communication skills and being able to problem-solve ๐๐.
-
My Typical Day:
I wake up and get ready for the office (or for working from home!). I get to work at 8am, where I have a look at the marketing items that I will be working on today ๐.
I work with my colleagues to develop these pieces and share them with our internal clients for approval. If I am in the office, I will have lunch in the canteen or if I am at home, I will go to the gym on my lunch break ๐ช๐ฑ.
In the afternoons, I have meetings with my team to discuss upcoming projects about what information Cancer Research UK will be sharing soon!

What I'd do with the prize money:
When I was younger, I didn’t know anybody who worked in the scientific industry. I knew I loved science and wanted a career in science, but ultimately I only decided to study Chemistry at University because my teacher was amazing and got me really enthused about a career in Chemistry.
Looking back, I wish I knew more about the different job roles you can do after University, depending on what you study. If I won the prize money, I would love to raise awareness for the different jobs available after university – either by visiting schools and sharing information about what me and my STEM colleagues do, or by hosting a webinar for everyone to ask questions.
-

I went to school at Anglo European, in Essex. This was a languages college!
I studied at the University of Warwick between 2019-2023.
-

-
Work History:
Before University, I worked as a waitress in a local, fine-dining restaurant. I continued to work there during breaks from uni and still do some weekends now, to save some extra money for holidays etc!
At University, I tried really hard to find a summer internship and spent 2 weeks in a bank that look at making investments that were considered ‘sustainable’. It was interesting, but definitely not for me!
After university, I landed a graduate role in the Medical Communications industry. This role involved working with big pharmaceutical clients to develop scientific publications, presentations for medical symposia, patient engagement information.
Now, I work at Cancer Research UK!
