I was always interested in a career in Science/Health but at 18 was so sure I was not going to be a scientist – no idea why just thought I couldn’t see myself wearing a labcoat and looking down a microscope every day.
Here I am 15 years down the line having the best time of my life working in University doing research finding new ways to cure cancer! I also teach University students lab skills and a bit of maths/statistics knowledge necessary for analysing data you get from the lab.
Sometimes I go to conferences/events to present to other scientists what discoveries I have made and see if we can collaborate each other to solve the next scientific mystery!

My Typical Day:
I wake up and have a coffee breakfast and watch Youtube videos while I get ready for work. I get to work 9 am and do experiments or have meetings. I have lunch for about an hour. Then back to the lab for more experiments or analyse results on the computer. I go home at 4-5 pm.

I wake up and have a coffee breakfast and watch Youtube videos while I get ready for work. I get to work 9 am and start on experiments or have meetings with my boss or other researchers in my lab group. Some of my experiments include giving cancer cells different types and combinations of drugs to see which can kill them the best.
I have lunch with my lab group in the cafe and we always have a good laugh. Then I head back to the lab to continue doing experiments or analyse experimental results on the computer. I might have an afternoon coffee with my colleagues and discuss some research plans for the next few weeks. I head home around 4-5 pm.

What I'd do with the prize money:
I would like to engage in the more disadvantaged students in my community who may not have the financial resources to do lab visits/shadowing to gain valuable experience or just for an eye opening experience to be able to do so with my lab.
-
Qualifications:
I did the American version of A levels: Advanced Placements and got the highest grade of 5 for all: Calculus AB, Biology, Physics B, Chemistry, Statistics
