This is SUCH a hard question to answer, because there are sooo many cool insects.
But if I had to give one, I’d probably say Weevils, which are a special kind of beetle (and probably the biggest group of beetles!). They look really cute and charismatic (google them, you will see why), and they also have very interesting and varied lives.
Some of my favourites are the “Leaf-Rolling Weevils”. The females lay a single egg on a leaf, and then use their powerful legs to roll the weevil up into a swiss roll. Then sometimes the eat the stalk of the leaf so it falls to the ground. The egg is completely protected, safe in its rolled-up leaf.
Weevils are everywhere! And some are considered pests of agricultural crops because they’re REALLY good at eating plants.
I love moths! In my eyes they are very hated butterflies although I think they’re cuter and fluffier. The evolution of moths when it comes to camouflage is super interesting, some are almost unnoticeable on tree barks. During the Victorian era a type of moth (I believe it was spotted and white) quickly became endangered due to becoming more visible as things became soot heavy.
