A flower stem has what are called transport tissues, xylem and phloem, which are like our arteries and veins. The xylem and phloem are used to transport water, sugar, and nutrients from one part of the plant to another. For example, sugars may be sent from the leaves to the roots, and water/nutrients from the roots to the leaves!
Inside a flower stem, there are tiny tubes that help the plant stay healthy!
Xylem ๐ โ Carries water and nutrients from the roots to the rest of the plant.
Phloem ๐ฌ โ Moves food (sugar) made by the leaves to other parts of the plant.
Pith & Cortex ๐๏ธ โ Store food and help keep the stem strong.
These parts work together like highways, making sure the flower gets everything it needs to grow! ๐ฑ๐
