Michael C Macey is the latest winner, after receiving the most votes from students! He wins £500 to spend on more science engagement activities.
Here’s what he had to say about his victory:
I am overjoyed to have been voted winner of a term of I’m a Scientist – the chats with students are the most fun I have ever had in over a decade of taking part in different science communication events. It is wonderful to hear that the students have also enjoyed talking about science with me.
It has been incredible to see the range of questions that students are interested in, from the practical (what’s your favourite experiment and what hours do you work?) to the scientific (Have we found life on Mars?), the global (What do I think about climate change?) and the personal (What games do you play?) – I love that there is no barrier for students to ask the questions that are interesting to them and then to follow up and dive deeper into these topics.
Thank you also to the mods at I’m a Scientist for keeping the chats running so smoothly and encouraging the exciting exchange of ideas in the chats, and to the Genetics Society for allowing me to get to be a part of these chats.
I look forward to seeing all of the questions that the future holds!
